Open to all students! Winners will be receive a pizza lunch for their entire lunch table as well as be recognized at the quarterly Honor Assemblies.

Jazz Band
Open to all 6th-8th grade students who are currently enrolled in band, or take weekly private lessons on their instrument.
The S. E. Gross Jazz Band is a performing group for students who may or may not have experience playing in a jazz group. The Jazz Band performs throughout the year at school concerts. Any students interested in Jazz Ensemble should join the Jazz Band to gain experience.

By audition for 6th-8th graders – students must be enrolled in band, or take weekly private lessons on their instrument in order to audition. (Students who do not make the Jazz Ensemble may play in Jazz Band)
The S. E. Gross Jazz Ensemble is a performing group for students with experience in playing jazz music. The Jazz Ensemble performs at school concerts and at various community events, such as the Youth in Crisis and Relay for Life fundraiser dinners.

School Spirit Club
The purpose of the School Spirit Club is to support all major activities of the school. Our objective is to bring spirit and positive reinforcement to athletics, arts, and activities. Activities of School Spirit Club range from organizing door decorating contests to decorating lockers and much more!

Speech & Drama
6th-8th Grade Teams
Students showcase their dramatic talents in categories such as: poetry, storytelling, improve, dramatic presentation, readers theatre, duets or monologues. This team competes both on an individual basis as well as a team at two events, (Family Night and West 40 Festival). Members strengthen their speaking and acting skills while using humorous or serious skits.

Yearbook
Yearbook club creates and publishes the S. E. Gross Middle School Yearbook. Students take on the roles of photographers, graphic designers, editors and writers to ensure the yearbook is a success.

Art Crew Club
Art Crew Club designs the sets, costumes, and props for the musical/play.

Art Club
Art Club is for students who enjoy art and want to do more creative and challenging art projects outside of the classroom. Projects include 3-D art, 2-D art, and crafts.

Math Olympiad
Each meeting involves a math game or activity which stresses problem solving, logic skills, or critical thinking. Technology is often used either with laptops or calculators. Students compete in a competition with area schools in March or April.

Science Club
Students will explore how science is part of their everyday life. Three sections will be offered:
- How science helps us make things
- Forensic science
- Solar energy and race cars

Nature Club
Nature club explores our local habitat and those of the surrounding areas. Also, Nature Club shares a close relationship with the zoo, which allows four Saturday morning trips.

National Junior Honor Society
This is a service organization. Members participate in tutoring, fundraising, community events and more. Selection is by induction after a minimum grade point, conduct, and effort are attained. Meetings are approximately once per month, but more often during service activities. For 7th and 8th graders only.

Industrial Arts Club
Members engage in more sophisticated projects with a wider variety of tools than regular industrial arts classes.

Caudill Club
Caudill Club is a reading club in which students choose to read books from a list of 20 great nominees. Those who read at least three earn the right to vote for that year's Rebecca Caudill award.

Spanish Club
Students will learn about Hispanic culture and holiday celebrations through crafts and activities. Celebrations included, but are not limited to, Dia de los muertos, La Navidad, Eldia de San Valentin and Cinco de Mayo.

Cooking Club
Students will spend their time learning how to cook various types of food. They will work together to prepare the food and then have an opportunity to eat it.

Builders Club
Leadership through Community Service is the goal of Builders Club, a partnership with the Kiwanis Club. Projects have included hosting a story hour for children from Brook Park; creating holiday cards and care packages for service men and women; coordinating, cooking and serving food to local people without homes, planting flowers in the park; and participating in Kiwanis events such as the Pet Parade, Peanut Days and Pancake Breakfasts.
