Brook Park 5 Essentials Survey

Please take a moment over the next few weeks to complete the 5 Essentials parent survey for the state of Illinois. This is a chance to brag about our amazing school! The link is https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/?target_name=parent and it should take less than ten minutes to complete.

School Closed Monday, November 26th

Dear Parents: I apologize for the late notice, but D 95 schools will be closed tomorrow. Calling a snow day may seriously be one of the most difficult decisions a superintendent makes. The difficulty about making the decision is we rely on predictions from weather experts who all seem to have various degrees of certainty. The timing of the impending storm has made this a tough call. Safety is a priority for D95 students, and the best information says we should not be open tomorrow. Again, it is always our preference to notify you earlier, but the timing of this weather system caused us some delay in decision-making. Be safe in your endeavors tomorrow.

Dr. Kuzniewski

New Traffic Pattern at Brook Park School

Dear Brook Park Parents/Guardians

After many conversations with the La Grange Park Police, starting Monday November 18th, the traffic pattern at Brook Park will be changing.  29th Street between Raymond and Harrison (the street behind Brook Park by Yena Park) will be closed for pick-up and dismissal.  This is due to the unsafe drop-offs that have been occurring on a daily basis.  Many people have been dropping off on the north side of the street and the children have been running across the middle of the street.  Parents are encouraged to use the drop-off line along Raymond Avenue or to park legally and walk your child to their line.  Student safety continues to be a top priority at Brook Park School and we believe this will improve it around the building. Please call the Brook Park Office at 708 588-8712 with any questions.

Thanks,

Mr. Sorensen

Brook Park Traffic Pattern

Please use the main entrance (southeast doors) as the only drop off zone.

Your child should be on the passenger side of the car and be ready to exit as soon as you reach the drop off zone. When your child has exited, please proceed to the stop sign at 30th and Raymond. If you need to supervise your child, you should park your car in a legal parking space and walk him/her to his/her line.

The school day begins at 8:00 am. All children should be at school in their lines by 7:55 am.

Arriving early prevents your child from being tardy. Be sure to allow extra time when there is snow or other inclement weather.

Please share this information with everyone who transports your child to school.

Cold Temperatures

The recent colder temperatures are a reminder of the importance of sending students to school with proper clothing.  Students must be prepared to be comfortable in clothing appropriate for warm classrooms and then transition to the cold outdoor elements safely. Students should have a heavy winter jacket along with gloves and a hat. We know how important movement and fresh air are so kids can stay on task and learn, so we make every effort to get kids outside during the day, as long as the air temperature and the wind chill are 20 degrees or above.
